I am an influencer…….

I am an influencer…….I am not talking about the glitzy pretty boy social media type, I am talking about real life. I started out as an influencer before it was the “cool” thing to do, it is a craft, an art, some say a dark art, but an art I have practiced for years and honed to perfection. The art was taught to me by the great influencers of the past…….Lon, Bo, Bill, Jimmy, Tom, CM, Ervin, Rayford, Roy. You may have heard of these folk, you may not have, but they were among the best practitioners of this dark art. These were the guys I looked up to, tried to emulate, tried to learn from, and did. What was influential about these people you ask? Everything. They were old school, traditional, honest, hard working and hard playing.

These guys knew drilling rigs, horses, welding, construction, farming, water well drilling, religion, whiskey drinking, smoking,and women,

but most of all patience, kindness and tolerance and were always willing to give away their most valuable commodity……..time. They were teachers. Sometimes tough task masters, they gave assignments and knew you were going to fail some of them, knowing there was a lesson in failure. The lessons were about the basics of life, how to treat others, honesty, give an honest days work for an honest days pay. Keep your eyes and ears open and keep your mouth shut. Watch where your walking, and observe what’s going on around you.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it…….and if it is broke we can and will fix it. Don’t give up, no one likes a quitter.

This was my life from my earliest memories. I owe my knowledge of the art of influencing to these guys.

Have I carried it on? Well I hope I can say yes I have. I hope I have influenced those around me in a positive way…….I can honestly say I unfortunately influenced some in a negative way. I am not proud of that, but it’s true. I do hope I have had more of a positive influence on most people I came in contact with. Being an influencer and practicing this dark art is an on going thing. I am trying to preserve the past……the tradition, the work, our culture, religion and values to those around me, it’s worth preserving, passing on and influencing others…….in real life.
